5-0 out of 5 stars A dreamy romance
I find it sad that this book hasn't been reviewed in so long. I'd give it more stars if i could. I bought this book years ago and just absolutely fell in love with it!!!In fact, i'd like to buy another one since i don't have my original currently with me.It's worth it!!! If you're looking to 'get away' for a bit and live in a world of fantasy and heavenly/magical love, then this is the story for you.If you're looking for realistic plots and actions, then, this isn't the book for you.The book itself was short; however, i suspect that's because i love romance and i just didn't want it to end.In my opinion, a part of Chris lives on in this book. Thanks Chris......definitely a book to stay in my collection and one i recommend to anyone who loves romance. It's my favorite!!!Oh, and by the way, the character called Drew.......all i can say is, wow!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A fairy tale I can relate to... finally!
I grew up reading fairy tales, watching all the Disney animated features... and loving them. But it wasn't until I read this one when I realized I was just accepting what Disney and others presented to me. 4-0 out of 5 stars A cure for Disney
Tired of Disney turning all the gritty, dark, brooding tales into picture-perfect, cliched, one-dimensional and downright *perky* stories? A book like this can cleanse the mind of the sticky Disney residue to this particular tale, especially for us lesbians. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Delightful thirller / romance with entertaining and refreshing main characters

1-0 out of 5 stars See through scheme. Hokey.
Sara Langforth gets lost on the city streets of Detroit and inadvertently becomes the key witness to a murder. She has to be protected by Lt. Denise VanCook or she will end up dead and the danger doesn't come from where you might expect it either. This was rather boring book.Leaving you to want the scheme to have some real meat to the story. You know they will end up with each other, but it was actually hokey. By that, I mean it is just another woman meets woman, and after a couple hundred pages they end up together. When I read about police work, or witness reality, I want it to be somewhat along the lines of a believable story.Like I said, this was rather hokey.

3-0 out of 5 stars Frustrating Read
I bought this book based on the 5 star rating from the two other review- ers. I wasn't disappointed so much as frustrated. The first half of the book was great. Badger is a good writer. The story flowed well and character developement was good. Cass is a tall, dark, airline pilot with a black belt in martial arts. Who wouldn't be in love with her? Roxanne is an award winning writer who must have been plucked out of the 50's. She is content to stay with a physically and verbally abusive boyfriend who she does not love because she doesn't want to upset her dying father. On the other hand, she is reluctant to take a chance on a woman that she admits to having wet dreams about. She's so "confused." Frankly, so was I.
5-0 out of 5 stars Classic Romance -Thrilling Ride!
I loved this book! From cover to cover it is full of storybook romance and pure love.It asks the question, Can you fall madly, deeply in love with a soul no matter who it belongs to and make it work even if it goes against everything that is "natural" to you? You will fall in love with Cass and Rox instantly and Nikki and Jerri are just as wonderful. They really try to look out for their best friend,Rox.
5-0 out of 5 stars One of a Kind- Thought Provoking Romance
The internet plays a role in everything we do today. Karen Badger has written an eye-opening romance, On a Wing and a Prayer that exposes the internet's pervasive influence in our lives.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great Missy tale
I enjoyed reading these further adventures of Dar and Kerry.Missy writes a believable story set in modern day Miami. One of the things that keeps us coming back to these stories (Tropical Storm, Hurricane Watch, Eye of the Storm, Thicker than Water, Terrors of the High Seas) is simple theme of soulmates meeting set amongst the techie background.

4-0 out of 5 stars Too many errors
The plot is pretty good, but the little errors scattered throughout distracted from the book. (A 30-year old would not be a Captain in the Naval Surface WArfare community. Navy Chiefs are not officers. The rank of "major" doesn't exist in the Navy.) A little bit of research would have made this book a lot better.

1-0 out of 5 stars Can't stand on laurals
Obviously attempting to stand on previous publications, Miss Good has a flop with this drivel. Her characters of Dar and Kerrycompliment each other, but Dar is just overplayed in this slow moving, computer language drivel. You can't stand on previous laurals Missy so concentrate on better writing if you want me to buy anymore of your books. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Brilliantly crafted mystery
Again Dreher brings us to a place where we discover new worlds and a deep respect and love for our own creative powers and those of the larger realm. Shaman's Moon won the LAMBDA literary award this year for best lesbianmystery and it is a richly deserved honor. Finally, a book is honored thatexplores more than our sexual side. It must be her work as a clinicalpsychologist that enhances her compassion and empathy for her characters. This book is several cuts above the rest.

5-0 out of 5 stars Alternative Empowerment
Sarah Dreher is one of the most well-intended authors I have read. Every novel presents us with endearing lesbian role models and situations that promote the healing and empowering of the lesbian psyche. For some, thisnovel could offend because that very empowerment comes at the expense ofJesus Christ and born-again Christians, but this is intentional and perhapsnecessary. The novel's power comes from the splicing of female-friendlypsychology and religion onto the campfire ghost story. Maybe Dreher fallsshort by replacing religious scepticism with shamanistic belief, but thereis no godless alternative that's any less a matter of belief as she so welldemonstrates in Stoner's inner struggles. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Idaho Code - where family therapy comes with a shovel and an alibi.
"Everyone knows that Idaho is full of crackpots. The big secret is that not all of them belong to right-wing militias. Some are lesbian separatists, some are ex-hippies, and some are members of Wilhelmina "Bil" Hardy's immediate family."
5-0 out of 5 stars Carl Hiaasen Meets Ellen DeGeneres and David Sedaris
This book is hilarious. From the opening scene where the heroine attempts to renew acquaintaince at a funeral with the daughter of the deceased while her mother is engaged in a loud cell phone conversation to the surprising denouement of the murder, you will be caught up in the antics of Bil's family and the town of Cowslip, populated by the Radical Faeries, the Lesbian Avengers, and Captain Schwartz's lesbian commune, gun club and baseball field. If this list seems too strange to be true, I dare you to read Idaho Code and marvel at the wealth of characters contained within its covers.I am a sucker for character-driven stories, especially when the characters are so rich they leap off the page and pummel you in the face.
5-0 out of 5 stars Hilarious!
Idaho Code is quite different among other lesbian fictions. It's full of mystery and humor (oh, I can't count how many times I laughed out loud) and has more characters than many lesbian fictions have. The latter don't lead you away the main theme but rather enrich the story and give more depth in it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Desire that Burns
After a recent submersion into what is passing for lesbian erotica these days -- and feeling as if I just wasn't perverse enough to be a "real" lesbian -- I revisited this classic. 5-0 out of 5 stars Informative, enlightening
Though I do not consider myself a lesbian, I have been attracted to a butch woman before and wanted to understand the feeling better. This book helped me understand the dynamic of attraction between butch and fem. It was precisely because she was masculine that I was attracted to her, butbecause she was a woman there was a sameness I could relate to and identifywith. It was safer in a way than a man, because it wasn't quite soopposite. You still have the masculine/feminine polarity, but at the sametime a comfortable sameness. It cleared up a lot of my questions andvalidated a lot of conclusions I had come to regarding the butch/femdynamic.

5-0 out of 5 stars A groundbreaking anthology of butch/femme writings
This is the one of the first serious books published on butch/femme within a historical context in the lesbian community. It's a huge collection of historical materials of varying quality, with poems, photographs, essays, etc. This book is absolutely necessary for anyone seeking an understanding of butch/femme as a multi-layered, many-faceted experience. ... Dhari Weston inherits an old house by a distant relative, an aunt she didn't even know.So why in the world would she leave the house to Dhari? Dhari is convinced no one would want to live there when she sees what condition the old house is in. But someone does.
5-0 out of 5 stars Warm hearted story filled with wonderfully drawn characters
I had very high expectations for this novel as it was a Lambda Literary finalist and deservedly so.Much more than a romance it's the story of many different people with a variety of issues that by the end of the novel you end up knowing as you do your own friends.Believe the other reviews, this should be on your must read list.I've read it twice now and enjoyed it even more the second time.Perfect for a lazy afternoon or evening.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent once again!
Great new book, and the mystery genre is done as well as the love stories and romance Martin is known and loved for. Try it, you're going to like it, your interest will be maintained, and you'll wait for the sequel - promise!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good reading
I found that this book held my attention and left you wanting more and not able to put it down for long periods. A good author for those who are not true book worms like myself.

5-0 out of 5 stars REAL SUBSTANCE
If you are getting bored reading the same old tired detective/mystery stories, pick up the Mickey Knight series. As a previous reader wrote, you'll find mystery, romance, comedy, steamy sex, and plenty of action in the Mickey Knight novels. The author has created a strong character with depth, who is very human and vulnerable.Let me say this:MICKEY IS NO WIMP! The supporting characters are richly developed throughout the series and you'll care about them all.The author makes you feel as though you're moving through New Orleans with Mickey.I loved all 4 books and can't wait to see what comes next.Don't miss this top notched series. It is THE BEST written detective series featuring a lesbian.

5-0 out of 5 stars Here comes Micky Knight
It's all here murder, mayhem, hot sex and beautiful women. This is the first in a series of four murder/suspense/mysteries featuring PI Michelle Knight. From the beginning when Knight is hired to help Karen Wentworth expose her ex-fiance, who is dancing at a gay bar, I was hooked. We have a police detective, an assistant DA and a doctor all linked to Mickey in some way and very important to the plot.Redmann knows New Orleans and shares it with us, albeit the seamier side. The story moves and takes the reader with it.We care what happens to our PI and her friends and the people who get pulled into the criminal happenings.Watch what happens with Cordelia James and her involvement with the happenings. And then read Deaths of Jocasta, The Intersection of Law and Desire, and Lost Daughters.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun Light Reading
Making up for lost time was a fun, light summer read. There were parts that would make you laugh outloud. I would recommend this read for anyone who wants a light, fun, lesbian romance. I actually tried the bread pudding recipe that is listed before one of the chapters and it worked and was so delicious that I think I have found my new holiday dessert to bring to dinner! Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Dip Me in Chocolate and Throw Me to the Lesbians...
Jamie is a young-but-marvelous chef who is tired of killing herself to make her ungrateful boss successful. After receiving an inheritance from her Aunt Emily, she decides to buy Emily's old restaurant and give it a go on her own.Little does she realize her new dream comes complete with inspectors, fines, back taxes, and other various problems.
5-0 out of 5 stars Don't read it while on a diet!
If ever a book was meant to be read on a beach, this one is it. It's really witty, romantic, and diverting. Just what a vacation needs. Warning to all readers on a diet, though -- when Jamie starts talking about all the chocolate she needs to mask her feelings for Val, you'll find yourself getting hungry! I wanted a huge slice of chocolate blackout cake! And if that wasn't enough there's a recipe for chocolate body paint. I dont' think I can say here what it is I wanted after the chapter where that body paint was used.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Again in Hawaii
When I started reading this book, I thought it was quirky.I still do, but it was hilarious.
4-0 out of 5 stars Very Funny, Very Sexy, Very Good
Many books in this genre build a relationship between two women and throw them into the sack in the last chapter or two.Either that, or they jump in bed in the first chapter and struggle with feelings of guilt until they have an epiphany at the very end and decide they're in love. This book is wonderful combination of the two.
5-0 out of 5 stars A "Laugh Out Loud," Fun,Romantic Read
I wasn't sure about this book, and then as quick as a drum "rim shot" the witty "mind" and "verbal" banter between Stephanie and Freddie was working my sense of humor into "Laugh Out Loud" moments!!!It was really nice to read a lesbian romance where the angst is what real people experience, you know anger, self-doubt, jealousy, and self realization.Stephanie's self realization about her past lovers struck me like a bolt of lightening!!!!! I completely fell "head over heals" in love with Freddie's cousin Sue, her line; "Anyone for a Lucky Strike?" absolutely sent me over the edge. The Epilogue is priceless..do not read it first!!!!!!!This is a fun, LOL, sexy read..buy it, read it, then recommend it to strangers and friends. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Read this!
This novel by Dorothy Strachey, sister of famous biographer and eccentric, Lytton Strachey, is a little jewel of a well-written novel.Probably based on Dorothy's experiences in a girl's school, it describes a English teenager's crush on a school mistress in late 19th century France. This novel is not about sex or being a lesbian. It is about anticipation and the overwhelming need for affection and approval. It is a classic, "coming of age" novel with (for once!) a young girl instead of a young boy.Quick, enthralling read!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Shock of the New
The brilliant Regina Marler has contributed an elegant introduction in which she very simply and directly lays out the facts about Dorothy Strachey's strange, privileged life, and dashes our hopes at once by letting us know that this is no memoir, it is that rarer more courageous thing, a novel. And yet, Marler continues, the novel possesses an emotional truth which may in fact vie closer to Strachey's own life, her needs, her accomplishments, than she in fact knew.Just as we are now familiar with Dora Carrington, the brilliant UK painter who staked her life and soul to her love for the gay author and flaneur Lytton Strachey, and who killed herself when Strackey died, we now have the example of Dorothy Strachey, who seems to have half-embroidered, half-distilled this example of pure, clear Sapphic enchantment as an offering to the man she was in love with, French novelist Andre Gide, whose translator she had become years and years earlier.

5-0 out of 5 stars Devotion!
This is a truely romantic book!I loved it...
4-0 out of 5 stars Make "Room" on your bookshelf... This one's a keeper!
As is so often the case, the back cover of this book doesn't do the story justice.'Room for Love' is a complex, well-developed story, and Jones uses this genre's basic winning recipe (i.e., girl sees girl, girl falls for girl, girl rents U-Haul...) to write an enjoyable tale of two women who fall in love while battling past demons.
4-0 out of 5 stars Yes, It is a great book!
