5-0 out of 5 stars YES!
"Intense, demanding, and surprisingly rapturous. Words that blow the concept of chick-lit out of the water. Finally, a book about women that matters."

5-0 out of 5 stars The Dolphin Smiles
David Salvage's style of writing is lyrical and haunting, engaging on such a deep level. He spins tales of feminine longing, rage, and envy that are utterly convincing and impossible to put down. He has a gift for activating memory with his words, so his writing is about so much more than the narrative; he truly awakens something essential in the reader. Dolphin offers an experience of total immersion, which few novels can do.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Erotic, Beautifully Written Narrative about Adventurous, Creative Women
THE DOLPHIN SMILES is a beautifully told story of a young woman's search for truth, harmony, beauty and fulfillment in her relationships with women past and present, real and imagined. The novel lyrically depicts states of hunger, need, passion, envy, and desire in earthy, ethereal, adventurous, original women whose lives become entangled in fascinating, unforeseen ways. While reading this story, I was reminded of the visually exquisite work of Pedro Almodovar.David Salvage's writing sustains a poetic, erotic intensity throughout.I read this novel in one long sitting and have returned to favorite passages, again and again.I hope his second novel appears soon!

5-0 out of 5 stars Exciting New Lesbian Erotic Fantasy Anthology
This anthology is an interesting and diverse collection of lesbian erotic short stories.I was surprised by how different the stories are.The stories range from an erotic encounter between Artemis and Athena to stories of enchanted forests were the heroines seem to have fallen rightout of a Conan comic book. The book is a refreshingly politics free.Thediversity of this collection works, especially for those of us who do nothave time to commit to novel length books. The nine stories in theanthology are engaging erotic fantasies, each different than the onebefore. The stories are high on erotic content without suffering from alack of development. Cecilia Tan's excellent editorial hand is evident inthis collection, she has put together another excellent anthology.Anyreader looking for short, sexy, and interesting lesbian erotic tales willbe more than pleased with this new collection. ... I, too, was very disappointed that this was a lesbian-love-story collection.I would have liked to see it marketed that way.I hid it under my bed so my roommates wouldn't think I fantasized about them or something. Then I finally threw it away.I guess if you are a lesbian it would work for you.

Editorial Review

We read some works of fiction to escape from ourselves, and others to find ourselves. Whether Jewish lesbians will tear through this erotic anthology in a rapture of self-recognition, I can't say, but aside from the occasional ecstatic reference to noodle kugel, there is nothing here to exclude or disorient other readers. In fact, one would hardly know one was reading Jewish lesbian erotica if it weren't for the book's subtitle and an odd recurrence of bagels. Tulchinsky, editor of the recent anthology Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars my kind of sexual entertainment
She, Eve Locke certainly knows how to tell it the way it happens, her descriptions are as close to the actual deed as being there. You don't need any pictures, and I feel as though I'm being included in the lewd festivities. I love it, it's easy to read and the feeling that I get during the time I'm reading is unexplainable, I'll read her novels till I die she's so good.

5-0 out of 5 stars woman to woman its the very best
I'm a lesbian and I love reading as many novels about my lifestyle as I can, many are just kid stuff, but the Lesbian her virgin and Ocracoke Island is as close to me and my lover as a person can get. Its a real turnon from the very first pages, the author is showing talent, style and courage to describe all the raunchiness she fills her novels with, We love it and we're fans for life.Eve Locke should be immortilized and she deserves saint-hood.And she tells it like it is.

5-0 out of 5 stars perfectly detailed in her sexuality
I'm a lesbian now but before I read this novel I was teetering on the edge and after reading her detailed descriptions I've discovered this new style of loving is so very enjoyale and pleasing. I suggest every one read her work she's a delight to have around, even if your lifestyle is straight the exciting sexual pleasures desribed in this book should be enjoyed by everyone. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Hot collection with some strong narrators
I was most attracted to the stories in this collection that are narrated by working-class and/or butch women. These were a pleasant contrast to some of the more lyrical, femme-femme stories, whose sentimentality tended to leave me bored. The plain-talking narrators of _Bushfire_ -- including some women of color -- are by far the most memorable.
5-0 out of 5 stars absolutely facinating, well written and very sexy
This is a book that interests both partners. It cannot be put down. Totally down to earth and sexy with a well written and totally captivating verse.Certainly is captivating when taken as a new approach to totallyfeminine sex and love. I, as a male, was interested to the point where Iprayed that the short stories were really true and not just goodimagineation.A great buy at any price.

5-0 out of 5 stars as good or better than the Hooker and the Nun
Yes this new book is definetly another work of art, she has done an inredible favor to not only me but to many folks who love her type of sexual entertainment. 4-0 out of 5 stars You Go Girlfriends!!
Elizabeth Dean has become one of my favorite authors. Her uproarious first novel, It's in Her Kiss, paired a contemporary theme with an intelligent storyline, and created a first-rate book.
5-0 out of 5 stars Don't take this book seriously
If you are looking for a serious look at lesbian life in the 21st Century, don't buy this book. If you want a chance to laugh at sterotypes and enjoy a lighthearted book, buy it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Lesbian mirror image
This book was a sad replica of Sex in the City. Don't get me wrong, it has it's funny parts, however even those I laugh at begrudgingly! From the woman writting the editorial every week about lesbians, to the way that they get together once a week, to the way they met each other, this book just takes Sex and the City and makes the women lesbian! Sadly I read the entire thing hoping it would get better (it doesn't). Don't make the same mistake as me, don't waste your money. There are so many good books out there, keep searching. The book doesn't allow depth or character development.Trust me (even though you don't know me) and don't buy a book by Dean, check out Radclyffe! ... Read more

Editorial Review

Another steamy installment in the annual series of lesbian erotica, this year's volume boasts a dazzling array of sexual styles and encounters, from exhibitionism to drag to dominance, in public, in prison, in all-male bath houses (?!), with custom toys, costumes, and covert arrangements. In an anthology of this nature, even the dullest of stories have their purposes, but a surprising number of the tales included here are well written and inventive. One of the best moments is from Peggy Munson's "Meeting Halfway," in which a couple makes love while a cooking show plays in the background on the television ("The inside should be tender and pink," the chef advises). Other highlights include the oaths invented by the narrator of Cecilia Tan's "Three of Cups" to appease her goddess-worshipping girlfriend ("Satan take my bicycle!") and the unplanned antics of an electronic dildo in Skian McGuire's "Remote Control." A collection to grace a girl's bedside. With a lively foreword by Tristan Taormino on the sexual state of the Union. Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Understanding
This book was my second lesbian book I've ever read. And I was taught new things that I never knew were possible with a woman's body and then again some I really didn't want to know. There were some sentences in some ofthe stories that were sensual more than erotic.I prefer sensual overexotic right now.I guess I didn't know erotic meant exotic.I felt alittle bit intimidated by most of the stories and was perplexed by many.Idon't think it's a good book for a newly out lesbian like myself as it hasmostly hardcore action happening.I wish I could sell it for it is toolate to return but I don't wish to read it again. One story I did findquite intriging but not worth buying the whole thing, which was Water Marksby Dawn Dougherty.

5-0 out of 5 stars i love this...very, very hot
what can i say about this...my copy is well-worn, and has been shared with friends.what i appreciate about this is the idea that sex is fantasy...that deep dark part of your mind where anything is possible.andthen you write about it, and share it with other people.lesbianism is apolitical thing, that is true, there is a power in loving other women, butlesbian sex is not one-dimensional.this book made me realize that it wasokay to want to have sex in a million different ways with other women.notall lesbian sex and fantasies have to be vanilla.as a result of readingthis book and other erotica, i have started to write and explore thefantasy world in a much bigger way.this book celebrates women in manyshapes and forms.in a time where sex can be so unhealthy, we need tocultivate forms of literature like this that encourage sexual fantasy andexploration.i would highly recommend it, andwhen reading this, remembernot to take it too seriously.it's just fantasy.but it's very veryfun...

3-0 out of 5 stars OK but not the best
I really like the 1998 one better. This has a mixture of mostly very strange, some are average, and just a few good stories. It's really interesting what some folks might find erotic. So if you are interested infinding out about the edges of erotic, this is a good read... ... Read more

Editorial Review

If you're not embarrassed to be seen carrying a book with this title, you might succumb to this lightweight tale of high adventure, in which mild-mannered college student Rachel King has a chance encounter with a compelling older woman, who turns out to be a wealthy and powerful illegal-arms dealer and--it gets better--sixth-degree black belt. Joanna Alden has abided for three years by her father's deathbed wish that she take over his criminal enterprise. But now that she meets the sweet and virginal Rachel, why, the first thing to do is to kidnap the girl and whisk her away to Joanna's island kingdom. Will Joanna persist in her evil career? And can Rachel ever grow to love her? Despite a rocky beginning and some stilted dialogue of the laugh-out-loud variety, this all-girl martial arts fable is well worth an evening's reading, and it's no more implausible than a Harlequin romance. 1-0 out of 5 stars Avoid this book!
I HATED this book. The story was unrealistic is about women being kidnapped and sold as sex slaves. The lead female was also raped.I love erotica but forced sex (RAPE) is not a turn on to me.If rape, being sold into sexual slavery is a turn on, then this book is for you.I wouldn't even give this book one star. HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars interesting plot
I felt as though this lesbian novel had a good plot with fascinating characters. It kept me wondering what was going to happen next. As a lesbian and avid reader, I thoroughly enjoyed it!

2-0 out of 5 stars Childlike language; adult topic
I don't think the author meant me to laugh as much as I did while reading this book. The plot reads like a gothic bodice-ripper but written for people who like to read about women together. It's nowhere near the amount of character development as, say, Artemis Oakgrove manages. The author also wrote a guide that supplies "1,000 sassy synonyms" for "said" and employs all of them in this book -- reminding me very much of much of how writing in kids' books is over the top to keep their interest. But the subject is grown-up, featuring submissive/dominant relationships between women. The subject matter didn't bother me, but since the characters are so poorly developed, the dominant woman didn't seem, well, like a woman, but rather a woman dropped into a part written for a man. I felt like I had read this book before with the primary protagnist as a man. Therefore I hesitate to call this book "lesbian." It would need far more character development to convince me these women were into each other and not just power. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Multi-faceted erotica by women for... women?
As a heterosexual but experimental woman, I hoped to find in "Erotica" sexual writing for a variety of tastes. However, what I actually found was an overwhelming tendency toward lesbian eroticism. Regardless, the writing was interesting, erotic, and broad-based, thoughthe modern writers emphasized more homosexuality than heterosexuality.
