5-0 out of 5 stars Better Than the First Volume
Great collection of touching, tender, ironic, witty, fun, moving love stories by some of today's top lesbian writers. I enjoyed the first Love Shook My Heart, but I must say, this collection is much better: It's so wonderful, I'm reading it for the second time!

4-0 out of 5 stars Don't let the cover distract you
Despite the sensual and somewhat provocative, cover, Love Shook My Heart 2, like it's predecessor, is not an anthology of erotica.Rather it's a touching sampler of stories with lesbian characters from a range of writers. The stories cover a spectrum of eras and are peopled with women of all ages. 5-0 out of 5 stars VAMPIRE THRILLER
Scarlet Thirst is an introduction into a whole vampire world, existing secretly alongside the human world. These vampires don't kill, they just `feed' from humans, taking a pint or so of blood: a precident set in another vampire novel The Gilda Stories by Jewell Gomez. The characters are believable: the vampire narrator - a butch called Rob, a human who becomes a vampire, called Rani, an ex of Rob's called Selena, a dastardly Count, his girlfriend Leah, and a very funny drag queen called Jameel. All these people were quickly real to me, Claxton's characterisation is vivid. This is an erotic book, and there is plenty of descriptive sex, however I was surprised to find myself quickly caught up in the story. Almost as soon as Rani `comes into the life' (becomes a vampire) the book turns into a page-turning thriller. I loved the idea of a vampire world, complete with their own police force (guardians), judges, government (The Night Council) and even executioners (enforcers). Anybody into the vampire genre would probably appreciate the detail of Claxton's vampire society. It was funny, sexy and sad, and I wanted to keep reading. Sometimes the sex actually detracted from the story, and anyone buying the book solely for it's erotic content may find themselves skipping pages - but I'd whole heartedly recommend this book for an exciting sexy read. Just the thing for hot summer nights!. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars If you are NOT Looking for Porn. . .
I can't believe the previous review has been here for 6 years unchallenged."Skin to Skin" came out to great press reviews.Only a moron would call Miller's writing "bad."Perhaps the fact that in this book Miller takes time to put a story around all the erotica disturbed this reader.Maybe she should have been shopping in the porn section. Miller develops characters so the reader knows what's at stake when the sex begins. If you are looking for porn, keep looking. If you are looking for well written stories that most women will relate to, buy this book.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poorly Written/Lacks the Erotic
This book attempts to write erotic stories about real people, however not only are the story not at all erotic or even close to sensual they are better descrided as a collection of stories about unhealthy lesbian relationships (one about a women who cheats on a lover with a friend who is a manic, sex crazed manic and cant come). That story like a few others begin and end without ever having anything erotic happen (such as two people getting together in a doing things to and for each other for longer then 2 sentences).Other stories are long and boring. Most of the main character are annoying and perdictable. Not recommend even to readers who are easy to please in terms of erotica.

5-0 out of 5 stars TRULYENJOYABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Initally, I was not too pleased with the stories, as there did not seem tobe many REALLY HOT scenarios. Yet, the more I read, the more I wanted toread. The characters and situations are real, genuine and true. Iespecially appreciate the two stories with the african-american charactersand their relationships. I get really bored reading about characters withblond hair/ blue eyes all the time. Nothing wrong with blonde hair/blueeyes but this world is varied and diverse and I can appreciate an authorwith the courage to depict the world as it is. By the way, Martha Miller'swriting style is superb!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Leatherwomen
I was lucky enough to find this book sitting on the shelve in my local gay and lesbian bookstore and quickly snapped it up.The stories are erotic and the writing is superb. You won't like every story in the book but you'll like the majority of them. This book has something for everyone in it.It's bedtime reading to assure happy dreams.

3-0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed reading these stories aloud...
I enjoyed the collection of short stories in Leatherwomen. The book was a gift and I took it on a backpacking trip. After a long day, we lay around the campfire and I read several of the stories aloud. Some of the storiesare brutal, like the prison rape scene. Some of them are tender in theireroticism. All of them elicited ainteresting response from myappreciative audience. Definitely a nice beginning read for those intriguedby BDSM and the attached culture.

5-0 out of 5 stars Insight into women's erotica.
This book is written by Lesbians most likely for Lesbians. But I am a Hetrosexual Dom male, very heavy into BDSM.So why am I reading it? BecauseI found the book to be very good for helping me gain insight into the female mistique. The stories are all presented from a silightly different angle and so each one is fresh. While it is written by Lesbians I rate it a must read for males that practice bdsm with women. 5-0 out of 5 stars Whether travelling over land or in your head...
...this collection just works. That's all there is to it.With a superior collaborative effort from a range of authors who, each and every one, never fail to tittilate, this book deserves space on any shelf.I've identified with many of the stories, and savored all of them. This book has been and will continue to be a favored companion on all my travels, and I can't urge you strongly enough to pick it up yourself and sample what it can offer.

4-0 out of 5 stars Tackling tought issues in volume 2
Brent and Queen's second collection of bisexual erotica includes 28 stories that use a range of genres from historical, to contemporary, to fantasy, to surreal. There is some great sex descriptions here but also some rather sensual non explicit stuff as well. "Erotica" here also refers to the use of sexuality as a means of character growth and not just characters having sex. The greatest number of stories involve two men and one woman -- something I wasn't expecting.Several others do not directly show us bisexual experiences even though the main character may be bisexual -- this will probably disappoint some people. As with the vast majority of anthologies, there are always great pieces and poor pieces, but primarily it is a matter of taste.

5-0 out of 5 stars I Want More!
I wish this book had come out when I was thinking about liking both genders and I was very ashamed when I was younger. This erotica book lead me to buy the first in the series, which is also really great. Now I know I am not alone out there. There is a word for these sexy feelings: bisexual. I am telling you, there are so many ways to be bisexual. I had no idea. This is not only enlightening about relationships, it is a very sexy book. I had to stop reading it several times and wake up my husband in bed.... if you know what I mean. If you think you might like to read bisexual stories, you will definitely love this book, and buy the first book too because it is EXCELLENT. I hope they make a #3 book. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars A disappointment
Currier is to be commended for attempting to write a literary chronicle of the life of gay men during the AIDS crisis.Unfortunately, he falls headlong into the stereotype of the Urban Gay Adonis in Wonderland that so plagues what passes for gay fiction. We are given fairly stock characters -- all suitably white, "gorgeous", and successful -- who have stock careers as actors/businessmen/artists, who are mind-numbingly self-absorbed yet a source of endless fascination for the "Everyman" protagonist, Robbie the carpenter who, mysteriously, finds no gay friends among his co-workers or those with less fashionable lives.5-0 out of 5 stars Great book.
This book touched me so much that I actually cried through most of it.And I'm not a crier.

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than I expected
It's really the cumulative impact of the story, rather than the writer's skill, that makes this book worth the effort.By the time I finished it, I really felt the author had provided a well-rounded main character.I give Currier a lot of credit, though, for trying to encapsulate decades of gay life in a single story.Since I am roughly the same age as the protagonist, I found the observations about the changes in gay life over the years to be interesting and (generally) spot on. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars An Early Novel about Homosexuality
While enjoying the nightlife of Harlem in the 1920's, June Westbrook, a recent divorce and newspaper columnist, befriends Mark Thornton, a handsome young man with a secret. As they are leaving one of the clubs, they witness a young, effeminate man named Nelly gets arrested.June pleads with Mark to find out what happened to him.4-0 out of 5 stars A classic from 1931
June, a young divorcee, becomes friends with Mark, and through him she discovers the world of Harlem nightclubs, drag shows, and the shadowy world of homosexuals. Mark and June are rather alike in that they are both looking unsuccessfully for love. Being gay in the late 1920s is terribly difficult, and Mark struggles with self-hatred instilled in him by society. Even though it portrays society's many prejudices and negative expectations for gays at the time, and the standard-for-the-era tragic ending for the homosexual character, "Strange Brother" reaches for compassion, understanding, and acceptance. It does somewhat succeed through the character of June who realizes her commonalities with Mark, and chooses to embrace life fully, even after the death of the object of her own affection (not Mark, by the way). "Strange Brother" is a wonderful story giving readers a glimpse into the early days of moving towards acceptance of gays and lesbians. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Bothered
At least half the title is perfect. I'm most certainly bothered. Bothered that I spent 15 of my hard earned dollars on something that was nowhere near erotic, more neurotic. Still trying to figure out when and how a paraplegic became the center of a love triangle and how and when I was supposed to be turned on.
5-0 out of 5 stars Something here to whet a range of lesbian appetites
From the skillful editing of Karen X. Tulschisky comes Hot and Bothered 3: short short fiction of lesbian desire.Think of this collection of over 69 stories as a table spread with delicious finger foods. The limitation of length (1000 words or less) requires the writers to select their words carefully and results in an almost poetic quality to many stories. Although some of these stories are definitely arousing, please note this is not a volume of erotica, but of desire in its many flavors.Tulschisky has assembled a buffet of writers. Some writers are well known and others are new "chefs," offering their first sales.Read more

"15 erotic writers share their stories about what the pornstars do after hours and behind the scenes. Have you ever fantasized about what it would be like to sleep with a pornstar? Ever wondered who the pornstars sleep with when they're not in front of the camera? If so, then you'll find this collection of 15 erotic pornstar tales a wetdream come true. You may want to start with pornstar Jim Buck's story, written especially for this collection, titled 'Two Big Thumbs Up.' 5-0 out of 5 stars Erotic, Skillful, a Book with Depth
Led Astray is a long and thoughtful book, but don't let it's length scare you.It grabs and holds your attention with plenty of action, but takes the care and skill to make you intimate with not only her lead character, Kelly, but the other principles.Even some of the more minor characters are clearly developed without being tiresome or pedantic. To add spice, her erotic scenes are varied and hot, and her understanding of total power exchange thorough. This book was worth every minute it took to read, and sometimes kept me from things I should have been doing!--Penny Duff, Brandon, Florida

1-0 out of 5 stars tough love in all its many sick forms
If you're into S & M, brutish and unfeeling Viking women, then this book is for you . . .I didn't like this book. The sex scenes were brutal, humiliating, and not erotic.I'd give this book no stars but Amazon wouldn't let me. Icky porno book.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!!
I found this book both exciting and stimulating.I guess its what every lesbian dreams off!!Once i'd started reading I couldn't leave it down!!A very on the edge and extremely erotic book.I did enjoy the painting scene, and I couldn't wait to read on the plot is really good and exciting as it unfolds through all the steamy scenes. This book certinaly gives the open mind a few ideas, I doubt i'll be doing the spoon scene though.Buy this book, you wont regret it, its the most fun you can have with your clothes on, a big thumbs up!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Rika Rules!
This was an amazing book - I'm still finding it hard to believe that it's been hidden away under the genre of erotica and therefore been deprived of the praise it deserves. I first read a review of it in SFX magazine and was sceptical.
