5-0 out of 5 stars Overpowering Foucault...
Sara Mills' text on Michel Foucault is part of a recent series put out by the Routledge Press, designed under the general editorial direction of Robert Eaglestone (Royal Holloway, University of London), to explore the most recent and exciting ideas in intellectual development during the past century or so. To this end, figures such as Martin Heidegger, Sigmund Freud, Friedrich Nietzsche, Jacques Derrida, Paul Ricouer and other influential thinkers in critical thought are highlighted in the series, planned to include more than 21 volumes in all.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Funny shonen-ai! (Yaay)
Challengers is Hinako Takanaga's debut work - a four volume story - published by DramaQueen. Hinako also brought us the for the charming and sweet Little Butterfly series. While not as good as her sequel series, in terms of storyline or artwork, Challengers is still a great shonen-ai manga and a very funny one at that.

4-0 out of 5 stars Friends from East to West
In this third installment of Sanchez's rainbow trilogy, we find Kyle, Jason, and Nelson taking a road trip across the country (from Washington, DC to Los Angeles, CA).
5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!
Out of three books I love this one the best. The after high school setting was cool for a change and the maturity levels of the characters was better. In this book, Kyle isn't the perfect boy anymore, Jason sees that he can screw up. I like the readers now see some of Kyles flaws and defects, this is one of the best parts of the book. Jason...oh Jason. I enjoyed reading about how Jason questions hes total "gayness" when he sees naked girls and kisses that girl in the club. Thats a big problem many questioning people have and it was nice to see it brought up in a way. Jason and Kyles relationship goes throught its tough times on this trip with is also nice to see becuase not every relationship in the world is perfect. In many ways even though Kyle and Jason fight, their relationship is growing stronger. Then comes Nelson. Nelson, a friend of Kyle and not really Jasons in the other two books. In this book, I like how Nelson and Jason start to connect and Kyle doesnt like that. This is another big problem many teens hae in their relationships, gays and straights. He also wants to find his true love like Kyle found Jason, but he doesnt know if hes ever going to find that til the end of the book in L.A. My all time favorite part of the book is at the end when Kyle knows he want to spend the rest of his life with Jason and that they are going to take it one day at a time, just like the old couple from the diner. I would recommend this book to everyone!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Worse than the first but better than the second
To answer that burning, burning question: Nelson's love life becomes more than unrequited crushes and a past one-night stand. Thank God. Now the world can move on!

5-0 out of 5 stars 5th and final book of the series
I was left wanting more at the end of 4, I loved how 5 just picked up right were 4 left off. As with the other 4 books, I could not put it down. I was happy with the out come, but sad that the series was done. Radclyffe is a wonderful writer and I look forward to reading her other books.

5-0 out of 5 stars Heartstopping Suspense!
In the days beyond one of the worst disasters to hit American soil, Secret Service Agent Cameron Roberts and what's left of her team fight to make sense of everything that's happened. And make sense of why one of their own would betray them in leading an attack on Cameron's lover Blair Powell, who happens to be the daughter of the President of the United States. An act Cam could not perceive let alone understand.
5-0 out of 5 stars I held my breath!
Radclyffe always gets 5 stars from me.Her writing is excellent, her characters hold from novel to novel, the plot holds true and doesn't waiver.

5-0 out of 5 stars Surpasses my expectation!
I was expecting the usual light hearted cliché and am pleasantly surprised by a much deeper plot and well flushed out characters with the potential of much more in future volumes. This mangaka's artwork is gorgeous andher boys are pretty, the brooding and handsome Nakahara pairing with a sunny and wide eyed Kojima. Vol 1 is a delightful shounen-ai on the the boys' budding relationship with the mangaka doing a great job contrasting Nakahara's painful background with Kojima's loving family.Get this series and you will also appreciate the fitting title "Little Butterfly" .

5-0 out of 5 stars Tender, moving shonen-ai
Liitle Butterfly is a gorgeous shonen-ai (then first volume is not yaoi) three volume story. Kojima, a friendly boy with a sunny disposition, goes out of his way to make friends with the loner, Nakahara, from his class. Wanting to know Nakahara more and have him accepted by his peers, Kojima includes the goodlooking but aloof Nakahara in his group during a field trip. However during the field trip Kojima learns the reasons why Nakahara is how he is and about his unloving and violent home life. The story charts the tender friendship that occurs between the two. Sweet and sensitive, the story boasts gorgeous drawings Hinako Takanaga and a moving and addictive storyline. If you are looking for a shonen-ai with a interesting storyline that makes you care for the characters, you really cannot get better than this. Simply love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars well worth the read
i admit, i was a bit dubious about how much i would enjoy reading this manga (sometimes, if you've read one, you've read them all), but i found myself pleasantly surprised. apparently, i underestimated! although, the plot line is a bit cliched, with the broody type and the energetic clueless, but the plot line is just fresh enough to make up for it all! not to mention just adorable. i'm already looking forward to the release of volume two in september, and will most likely be purchasing that volume and more. an excellant manga with a straight forward approach and delightful artwork. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Manga Series Out There!
This is my all time favorite series - even though it's only Shonen Ai it is the greatest Manga Series out there. The art is great and the story is funny and sweet in a lot of places, especially when it reveals how much the two main characters care for one another. It focuses on Dee Laytner and his persistence to get into the pants of his new partner Ryo Maclean, your average uke not knowing what to make of Dee's advances and Dee isn't the only one after Ryo, their new boss Berkley Rose is and Dee has his own admirers including one hyperactive jealous JJ, who hates Ryo. This is a must have series for any Yaoi or Shonen Ai Fan!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good book...great art
The first time I read this manga was way back when in highschool when my Japanese language teacher gave us manga for us to practice reading with.It was actually in Japanese and it really got me hooked on Japanese manga, especially the Shounen Ai genre. It wasn't really smart for her to bring in some yaoi manga books, but hey, it was awesome. Though the translation really varies...and Tokyopop has a reputation for screwing up some mangas. All in all, the second book is awesome. There's mystery, action, adventure (...). The characters aren't that bad looking either. Sanami Matoh's art is awesome, though her child characters look mighty freaky with weird glass like eyes. There's a lot of humor and Sanami Matoh portrayed NY people perfectly! Although in the second book it goes on to the supernatural realm...ghosts and such, Matoh-san didn't overdo it. I strongly urge any Shounen Ai manga fans to buy this book. It's one of the most popular shounen Ai mangas out there.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yummy
Dear god, I love this series! It looks like Sanami Matoh refined her drawing style between the first and second books. A big improvement, if you ask me. The only thing I tend to not like about this volume is that it tended to get riciculous at times, but that's more than made up for by great kissing scenes. ;DRead more

4-0 out of 5 stars Some Things Never Change
This for-the-most-part very fine collection of 21 essays by gay men writing about growing up (there are two or three selections I would have omitted) reminded me of how much alike we all are and that their experiences and mine, even though we are separated by a generation, are essentially pretty much the same: wanting to be accepted by others, both at home and at school, the crushes on male straight friends, the trauma of playing center field, the fear of taking communal showers, being labeled sensitive or different and the feelings of utter aloneness. There was not so much the name calling then ("fag" and "faggot"), however; our differentness was just not talked about. Or as Lily Tomlin says so aptly in one of her monologues, in the 60's nobody was gay; we were just shy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great coming-of-age/coming-out story with a clever mystery
Seventeen year old Jeremy Tyler is being given the "second chance" of a lifetime, moving from the Fresno home of his alcoholic, irresponsible single mom, to the Los Angeles area beachfront mansion of his rich Aunt Katherine.Aunt Katherine and her husband Bill also acted as surrogate parents to his father Jonathan, who died in an unfortunate accident on a winding mountain road when Jeremy was an infant. Jeremy wants to be a man of whom his aunt can be proud, just like his father, whom he resembles and shares many interests. He works on developing a good relationship with his interacial girlfriend, Reed, hoping that they will prove that an attraction he had to better looking, gregarious guys was just envy rather than an indication of sexual orientation. While his aunt and uncle are very kind to him, Jeremy becomes closest to Katherine's butler, Alfred, a somewhat mysterious gay man who is a former marine officer and seems to have an uncanny knack for anticipating everyone's needs. One day, Jeremy receives a call from his mother in rehab, warning him that he is in danger from Katherine's husband, Bill, and that it is likely he was responsible for his father's death.Jeremy doesn't know what to think, suspecting his mother is intentionally poisoning his mind against his aunt and uncle in order to retain her hold on him ... and to get her hands on the sizeable trust inheritance he'll see when he turns 18.

A great story and a great read.Nick Nolan took some very real life dramas (coming out, dealing with an alcholic parent, and the issues of being an adolescent becoming an adult) and wove it with rich fantasies (finding out you are rich, you have the world at your feet, the hottest people wanting you, and a murder plot) to give us a really engaging and beautifully written story. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite Mel Keegan books...
I stumbled unto this book by accident and have to note I enjoyed it immensely. Some of the historical accuracy is a bit off, and don't read it if you're looking for looks of battle scenes - The story focuses mostly on the relationship between a saxon knight and his squire (told from the squire's point of view). The plot isn't very original in some regards but it's still a nice romance. 4-0 out of 5 stars Rip roaring adventure!
Very sexy story set in the Crusades.Gorgeous characters, sweet love and hot sex.2-0 out of 5 stars A rose by any other name
I would rather read a so-so book by Mel Keegan than a "good" book by almost anyone else, but I have to admit this one is the weakest of all Keegan's books I've read.I did not like the main characters, SirEdward seemed wimpy and Paul was irritating. I like roles clearly defined:who's the dominant partner, who's submissive? And I'm not even talkingabout sex. Also the "history" was too politically correct.Iwould have preferred straight fantasy and a made up world and culture. There was not enough action, and too much thinking.Too much Angst oneverybody's part. Also, I don't get why Keegan set up a rape scenario andthen backed off--the backing off was totally unreal and made Paul lesslikable than ever. This was kind of a downer. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great For GLBTs and their Allies
This book caught my eye at my local library. I love reading books about GLBTs and am a huge gay rights activist. Each chapter rotates about the three guys. Nelson, the activist who is out to everyone; Kyle, a genius who is only out to Nelson; and Jason, the closeted jock. The book deals with coming out, alcoholism, internet predators, HIV, and much more. Also, if you enjoyed this book check out the sequels Rainbow High and Rainbow Road.

5-0 out of 5 stars Speechless
Such a great book. The characters were very alive, and I felt for each one. As people have said before me, this needs to be mandatory reading in high schools.

4-0 out of 5 stars Some WhereOver the Rainbow...
Originally, I read this book for a book report, but changed my mind when I finished fearing that it would have been to repetitive after a speech on gay rights I did about a month back. However, I changed my mind yet another time after a friend of mine came out this week and I saw someone holding a sign proclaiming that homosexuality was a sin.I normally don't read "teen fiction" but this book was much different than your typical young adult fiction novel about school and raging hormones.Maybe someday it will be required reading to help promote acceptance.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sexy Detail
Up All Night: Adventures in Lesbian Sex is one of the hottest books I've ever read that I didn't buy from a train station or airport bookstore. It's a collection of true lesbian sex stories by erotica authors.'How wet can one book make you? Open this one to find out.Two [...] female lovers do some down-and-dirty overtime in the office after hours. In excrutiatingly sexy detail Up All Night presents the uncensored words of real women describing their hottest erotic lesbian adventures. With all this and more, this is one erotic collection that is sure to keep you up all night.
3-0 out of 5 stars This one's pretty hit-or-miss...
So I had really high hopes for this compilation, especially due to the involvement of Stacy Bias, girl wonder. However, some of the stories were simply poorly written.Cliches abounded, and I found myself distracted from what would otherwise be a perfectly hot story with an interesting enough plot by the sophomorish writing.

I am really into this series! I'm in love Katou; so DAMN SEXY!! Kizuna and this series are my TOP yaoi favs! Recommend, recommend!!

3-0 out of 5 stars good
I could copy the review I wrote for the first volume: an interesting story, fast paced, lovable characters (a bit bigger than life), a lot of explicit sex.
5-0 out of 5 stars Any Yaoi fan should have this!
I watched the delightful OVA (based on Embracing Love 1 and 2 to be released by bebeautifulmanga.com soon) first. Totally captivated by Iwaki and Katou, I bought all 11 volumes (todate) of the Japanese vesion of Embracing Love though I do not know a word of Japanese. Since then I have waited impatiently to acquire the translated Embracing Love from Amazon (do not know why it takes Amazon so long to secure any Yaoi manga published by Bebeautifulmanga.com) since the publisher, Bebeautifulmanga.com, does not cater to an international buyer like me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exciting book!!!
The best part is this book contains TRUE stories and that makes it so much more realistic. If you hate fiction about hot guys who always have 10 inches, this book is for you. Some stories remind me of my own experiences and I believe they are really true. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars recommendable book
This is an interesting and readable book, but mainly concentrated in the yearning & admiration of Northern Europeans for Italia et Graecia. I was expected from the title a more comprehensive survey-book on themediterranean male/male love relationships. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars buy this one for yourself and a single, aging friend
15 or 20 years ago - more or less - Valerie Taylor wrote a pretty good book about aging women falling in love.Although I don't pretend to have read every book in the lesbian bibliography, I haven't seen another book that was about women in their sixties falling in love with each other until now - and Mulligan is a good one.MacGregor is an excellent writer. Her books are filled with believable characters and in general her plots are realistic.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Winner

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful romantic story of two women from the 60's to today
This novel has something for everyone (I especially like the title!), young and older couples, humor, drama, deception and intrigue, set in wonderful locations throughout the U.S.
