5-0 out of 5 stars The Real Thing
Dance in the Key of Love is one of the books that have restored my faith in lesbian fiction. I love to read. I love to read good books, and I'm always looking and hoping to find good lesbian-themed books. I've been dissappointed so many times that when I find one of this quality writing I make the effort to tell others about it.
4-0 out of 5 stars Is Dancing the Key to Love?
I don't know, but this novel dug deep into Paige's life.Paige has been on her own since her teen years. She has family, but they are estranged.
4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book
Dance in the Key of Love is the sequel to an earlier novel by Marianne K. Martin called Dawn of the Dance. You don't have to have read the first novel to enjoy this one, but, if it is available, it might be helpful to review it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Unbelievably intriguing
Don't look for a synopsis here, just a wholehearted recommendation.I learned about Bart Yates' books from a reader's list on Amazon.com a few days ago.I checked this book out of the library and started to read it when I got home from work in the late afternoon.I didn't get to sleep until 2:00 a.m. the following morning because I could not put the book down.It was a completely unexpected engrossing reading experience for me; I haven't been absorbed in a novel like that in YEARS. I plan on reading it again soon, but more slowly next time. For the first time in a long time I am going to buy a novel (this novel) at full price, just to support the author.

4-0 out of 5 stars I didn't mow the yard today...
I join the couldn't-put-it-down club on this book.I read it in a gulp on a Saturday afternoon and evening when I should have been doing other things. The plot is compelling (although the wrap-up in the final chapters is a bit swift and tidy) and the voice of the narrator is astounding. The author has a rare ear for natural, plucky dialogue, and words in the mouth of Noah York -- a teenager with a boatload of problems -- are both hilarious and gut-wrenching.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I don't know what it is about the way Yates writes - but I become obsessed with the characters and story and just hate putting the book down.I recently read Brothers Bishop and felt the same.Right now I feel sad because I finished the book and fear I will not find anything as engrossing any time soon. This is not a typical coming of age novel - the characters are well developed and the story is one that any reader would enjoy!Keep on writing Mr. Yates! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Weaknesses and Problems, but overall, not too bad...
Mondimore's book, now rather dated as it was published in 1996, is ambitious and manages within the space of such a short volume to cover a great deal of content. It provides both a survey of the history of homosexuality and homoeroticism as well as an exploration of its biological and psychological roots, delving into the construction of homosexual identities as well.Accessible and well written, it is in general, a very good primer on the matter.Such praise notwithstanding, several problems in Mondimore's treatment require attention.
5-0 out of 5 stars An agreable discovery of facts
I've just finished reading Dr. Mondimore's book. Since I am more familiar with literature and the arts there was a large spectrum I was quite ignorant of. I am Mexican and eventhough I was quite aware that the Aztecs really hated what we now call homosexuality, I was pretty ignorant of other othre views of this pehenomenon in other pre-Hispanic cultures.
4-0 out of 5 stars The Best General Work on Homosexuality I've Encountered
As a lesbian fascinated with lesbian and gay studies and history--and having participated in the making of some of it--I was more than interested in reading Dr. Mondimore's book. What I found was a book with overall balance, an excellent general source of information.I would recommend this book highly to heterosexuals, especially family members striving to deal with the homosexuality of a loved one.I would recommend it to the lesbian or gay seeking a better, broad-based understanding of themselves, their history, and the things which shape and influence them.Above all, I would recommend it to the person or group harboring an antihomosexual prejudice, be it from religious, cultural, or personal beliefs.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A treasure chest of forgotten lore
This book was preceded in my conciousness by high critical praise and so I approached it with great expectations. And in great part it met these expectations.4-0 out of 5 stars Fresh Thinking About Gay History
Chauncey's book offers serious and original thinking about queer history and about general urban history as well.Freed from the myths that have persisted about the place of homosexuals in U.S. society, the author paints a new portrait of what transpired just before the turn of the last century and into the early decades of the 20th century.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A truly romantic read
Ally Blue has a way of drawing the reader in and sending them on an emotional rollercoaster. All her books are a must read and Willow Bend is no exception. It's a beautifully crafted story. The characters are so real you will hate to leave them.I felt like I knew these characters, they made my smile, cry and laugh. The sex scenes are erotic and will leave you breathless, but the truly outstanding thing about this story is the development of the Cory and Paul's relationship and how they help each other over the death of loved ones. This is a very romantic and realistic love story. Also recommended: Laura Baumbach's A Bit of Rough; Sean Michael's Tripire; Chris Owen's Bareback

5-0 out of 5 stars A must read M/M romance writer !
Willow Bend is a lovely gay romance about finding love in the midst of death, the death of a beloved spouse and the death of a beloved parent. I love Ally Blue's works (4 e-books thus far in Loose-id and Samhain). She explores her guys' feelings deeply, emphasizing on the emotional content of their relationship and Willow Bend is no exception. And of course there is the hot sex. All of you into M/M erotic romance should not miss Ally's works. I for one am glad to have one of her stories available in good old fashioned paperback. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing for the First Book!
Ali Vali has an amazing talent! I could not put this book down! The Devil Inside was an easy and very enjoyable read. For this being her first attempt at a novel, I think the work rates Vali up there with the likes of Radclyffe and Gerri Hill. I can not imagine anyone not liking this book and the great characters. Derby Cain is a tough and powerful woman with a soft side that lets you fall in love with her. Cain's family comes first especially her son Hayden. In the begining you doubt Emma, Cain's wife but by the end of the book you find yourself rooting for her.As the story unfolds Emma's character is transformed and it makes you wonder what level she will be taken to in the sequel.
5-0 out of 5 stars So Anxious For The Sequel, I Could Burst!
This reader has enjoyed many stories the talented Ali Vali has posted online and was anxious to read her first published book.I am most definitely NOT disappointed!Vali leaves the reader hanging at the end of each chapter - heck, at the end of each sentence - thus making it difficult to make the pleasure last. It's impossible to put the book down once you start reading.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Rare Gift - An Outstanding First Book
Cain is the head of one of New Orleans' mob families. She took over the job when her father was killed.Emma is her partner and the mother of her son. When Emma walks away from Cain and her son, both are devastated. When Emma returns four years later, all have to deal with the consequences of Emma's betrayal.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Passion for Soap Operas
The Q Guide to Soap Operas is an enjoyable ride through the world of soap operas. Author, Daniel R. Coleridge, has a lifelong passion for television, particularly daytime dramas, and he enthusiastically shares it with the book's readers. Filled with facts and fun quizzes to test one's knowledge, I found this book to be an informative, seductive look at the soaps.

5-0 out of 5 stars Soaps with a raised eyebrow...
Just finished Daniel Coleridge's book, The Q Guide to Soap Operas, and found it lots of fun. I'd always thought I wasn't much of a soap fan, but I got a kick out of the cover and decided to indulge. Mr. Coleridge's style is funny, sassy and very well informed. He made unfamiliar subjects come to life, pointed me in the direction of some hunks and divas worth getting to know, and made me realize that in spite of my doubts, I AM a soap fan... Now how do I tell my friends and family?

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing resource for building family
When I was writing the first edition of my "Choosing Single Motherhood" book, I wasn't aware of the earlier version of this book. Now that I am, I am making a special effort to include mention of it in the newest edition of my book. It's an amazing resource for women who want to understand the ins and outs of donor insemination, including an excellent chapter on what is involved in using a known donor: what sperm tests reveal and why it's important, the fact that fertility can be enhanced, the questions and conversations both parties need to have, and a really comprehensive look at the medical issues that enhance anyone's insight into how to best prepare forthis choice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for all women considering donor insemination
I've been reading every book I can find about donor insemination and this is the best I've found.Whether using fresh, frozen, known, anonymous, at home or assisted by medical practitioners, medicated or not, this book has useful information for decision making, social/emtional issues and nitty gritty physical information.

This is a superbly written book! The prose is at times breathtaking and the plot, while certainly quirky, was fascinating. A book that you will want to re-read.This guy REALLY has a way with words. Buy it and savor it.

Sammy Barlach, wild and lyrical, crazy and philosophical, is automatically stopped by cops, followed around in a retail store by suspicious managers and someone you would probably cross the street to avoid. He is our narrator in this sharply satirical trailer park trash slice of life.5-0 out of 5 stars Blood ,sweat, toil and tears
Woodrell is marketed , at least in the UK ,as a crime writer --his British publisher the estimable No Exit Press labelling them as country noir--but the subject matter is social class normally a covert as distinct from overt theme in crime writing .In particular they treat of the dispossessed ,the bottom feeders who must lie to cover up gaps in employment history all for the sake of menial low paid work which still denies themthe cornerstones of human dignity namely choice ,spontaneity and purpose.Read more

The subtitle for this amazing and long overdue anthology is "True Tales of Sex & Gender Diversity", which pretty well sums up what the book is about. There have been many anthologies published over the years that deal with a range of different issues, but Finding the Real Me is the first volume to tackle the complexities of gender diversity.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent biography that goes far below the surface
The author of Going to Heaven is a life-long Episcopalian who is part of the Diocese of New Hampshire, so she is able to offer a lot of additional details about the process of electing Gene in this fascinating book. But what I loved most about the book is that it's not a salacious account of some flash-in-the-pan controversy; instead, it's the spiritual biography of a thought-provoking, deeply prayerful bishop.
5-0 out of 5 stars Gene Robinson and the Power of Love
As soon as I finished reading Elizabeth Adams' biography, Going to Heaven:The Life and Election of Bishop Gene Robinson, I gave thanks. As a lifelong supporter of human rights, a clergy wife and committed Episcopalian, I was grateful that the biography taught me so much.It taught me more about Bishop Robinson, the man, than all of the news coverage, feature articles and specials that have swirled into the popular press since the announcement of his election. It taught me about Gene Robinson, the gay man, and all that that meant for this individual. It taught me about Gene Robinson, the reluctant poster child for gay rights, and the history of the gay rights movement in the states and in the world. It taught me about Gene Robinson, the committed clergyman, and the inner workings of the church I call mine.I gave thanks, believing that Adams wrote the book with people like me in mind.

2-0 out of 5 stars Missing the Truth
Dover reopened in Greek Homosexuality (1978) the study by classicists of a subject disdained since 1933, when Hitler crushed the German Homosexual Emancipation Movement. However, Sir Kenneth denigrated Greek pederasty by claiming that it was merely lustful. He hypercritically refused to use sources dating from after the 4th century - even Plutarch's Lives, which, like the works of Lucian and Diodorus, notoriously cited and paraphrased lost classical sources, which themselves often relied on earlier oral and written accounts. This simplified the crotchety don's task and distorted his conclusions. His "book" is really a collection of four essays. The longest and most original are about erotic vases and a seamy lawsuit involving a kidnapping. How such a skimpy selection of sources could be expected to yield a valid thesis defies reason.

When one considers that male-male relations had their dominant Western etiology in Greece antiquity, it's only natural to look back to the ancient records and artefacts to illustrate and examine how these relations existed in their antique form. What we see is probably different from what we expect.
1-0 out of 5 stars Simply unreadable...
Once again I have to disagree with every other reviewer.

5-0 out of 5 stars You don't have to be a manga fan to like this novel!
Ok there are many people out there who like gay stories but have yet to read yaoi manga- for whatever reason! But don't let that stop you! This is a wonderful novel, the spacing of the typing and indents are a bit different and the dialogue and discription are written in different paragraphs (these are translations from the orginal japanese,) but once you get past these visual differences the story itself was very good! The main story, "Cold Sleep" keeps you guessing right up until the very (though abrupt) end! Should Takahisa, who's lost his memory really trust Fujishima, who claims to be an old friend but is quiet and refuses to tell him anything about his life pre-accident? Takahisa is independent and stubborn, enough so that be hates feeling beholden to his rescuer and is therefore afraid to challenge the quiet man who is happy just to leave him alone.. as long as he isn't investigating his past.
4-0 out of 5 stars Another Interesting Offering from Konohara.
For those unfamiliar with DMP's yaoi novel translations, Cold Sleep is another series by the same author as Don't Worry Mama.Unlike Don't Worry Mama, the illustrations in this shorter novel are done by Nanao Saikawa instead of Yuki Shimizu (artist of Love Mode). They are sparser and not nearly as provocative, but they help lend a visual aid to the reader nonetheless.
4-0 out of 5 stars An interesting start
The main reason why I feel this BL novel is short of 5 stars is since though I found the novel quite interesting, the dramatic discovery of the real circumstances surrounding Takahisa Tohru's loss of memory and Fujishima's silence regarding Tohru's past simply isn't that intriguing. The explanation brings together a number of loose ends, yet is a slight disappointment after the great suspense throughout the novel leading up to that moment. The actual circumstances surrounding the accident reveal nothing about pre-amnesia Tohru's life while the revelation of said circumstances seems to be only a tool in bringing together Tohru and Fujishima as a romantic couple. Other than that, this novel was a great introduction to what appears to be a 3+ book series.
